Compensation order This orders a criminal to pay money to his or her victim to make up for the loss or damage caused.
Conditional bail When bail is granted with certain conditions such as keeping a curfew or staying away from a specific area.
Constructive dismissal When somebody resigns from work because they feel that the working conditions or an employer’s attitude have become so bad that they have very little choice but to resign.
Consumer Someone who buys goods or services.
Conviction A person is convicted when they are found guilty by the court of causing a crime.
Coroner An independent officer acting on behalf of the state to investigate the cause and circumstances of violent or unnatural deaths, or sudden deaths of an unknown cause. Coroners must be legally and/or medically qualified.
Counselling The process of being helped by a trained person to resolve personal, social or psychological problems through talking.
