The activities in 'Your Justice Your World' have been developed by the Ministry of Justice to provide an overview of the justice system. It supports children and young people in their understanding of the significance of justice, rights and responsibilities in our society. |
Learning about democracy and justice - including the fairness and the rule of law as part of justice - is an important part of the Citizenship curriculum, which schools are required to teach. |
There are two versions of Your Justice Your World, and your child will either be working on the version for Key Stage 2 or for Key Stages 3 and 4. |
Finding your way around Crownford Rise
The activities centre on the virtual but realistic town of Crownford Rise. As in a real life town, the inhabitants have to deal with a range of situations that bring them into contact with the justice system. |
The pupils follow the stories of different characters, and are invited to share opinions, make decisions, consider different points of view and find out further information. |
The various storylines are developed through interactive activities, which the pupils will follow as part of their studies in Citizenship. |
Why we are keen to use Your Justice Your World
Your Justice Your World deals with issues that are of real concern to young people, including the consequences of breaking rules, bullying, discrimination, crime, and family break-up. |
Through the online materials, the pupils learn about the role of the justice system in these sorts of social situations. There are opportunities for them to talk about their concerns and give their opinions. Information is also given about where to find more information, help and advice. |
