Reprimand A formal verbal warning given by a police officer to a young person who admits they are guilty of a minor first offence.
Restorative justice This system allows victims of crimes to choose to meet offenders to help them understand the consequences of their actions.
Sale of Goods Act An Act which sets out rules which shops and other retailers have to obey. It states that goods should be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose, and as described on the packaging, label or display sign.
Self-defence A violent act committed by a person while defending him or herself from attack.
Sexual offending Committing any offences which are against the law under the Sexual Offences Act such as rape, sexual assault, exposure and voyeurism.
Shoplift When someone steals goods from a store while appearing to be shopping.
Small claims court A court which helps to resolve disputes about money amounting to £5,000 or less.
