Torture / Tortured
An act that causes severe pain or suffering – whether mental or physical.

Trading Standards
An organisation run by local authorities which protects the rights of consumers and businesses.

Trial
There are two types of trial:

A criminal trial attempts to find out whether the person accused of committing a crime is guilty.

A civil trial is held to settle an argument between people, groups of people or organisations.

Tribunal
A panel of people who have authority to make decisions about a particular issue.

Tribunals Service
A government agency that helps with the management of the main central government tribunals.
