Verdict
The decision on whether a person is guilty or not guilty of committing a crime.

Victim Support
A service run by trained volunteers for victims of crimes or anti-social behaviour. They listen and provide support in confidence, either in person or on the phone.

Vulnerable witness
Usually a witness who is under 17 years old.

Witness
The person or people who saw a crime taking place, and who give evidence in court.

Witness Service
Victim Support provides a free service for witnesses called the Witness Service. This is available in every magistrates’ and Crown Court in England and Wales. Witness Service volunteers provide support to all witnesses – both prosecution and defence – during and after the trial.
