Young offender institution (YOI)
A special type of prison for young people.

Youth court
A court that deals with the cases of accused children and young people under the age of 18.

Youth Offending Team (YOT)
A team of people made up of representatives from the police, the Probation Service, social services, education and the health service. They are in charge of young people under the age of 18 who are serving a community sentence. They also help young people to avoid getting into trouble.

Zero hours contract
An employment contract with no specified working hours, under which the employer does not have to guarantee to provide work to the employee and pays only for work actually done.
