Other punishments for anti-social behaviour

Acceptable behaviour contracts (ABC)
This is a set of voluntary rules, and the young person signs the contract to say that they will keep to these rules. Breaking these rules is not a criminal offence.

Compensation orders
These are instructions for offenders to pay for any damage caused (or for their parents to pay if they are young).

Curfew orders
These require young people with anti-social behaviour to remain at a specified place for set periods of time.

Football banning orders
If someone has been violent at a football match, they could be banned from any other match and have their passport taken away when their team is playing abroad.

Dispersal zones
A chief police officer can choose to make some areas 'dispersal zones', if anti-social behaviour often takes place there. The police and community support officers have the power to order groups of people to leave that area after a certain time (for up to 24 hours), if they suspect that anti-social behaviour has or may happen.
