Additional information
Children and young people may only do light work from aged 13 and older until they leave school. There are restrictions as to when you can work in the school week and in the holidays, and you cannot work very early in the morning or in the evening.

For a statement of your employment rights and responsibilities (which Sara Jane could have made use of), try the interactive tool on Directgov (www.direct.gov.uk/en/Diol1/EmploymentInteractiveTools/DG_10028510).

Children and young workers. There are rules that regulate what times of the day a child can work and for how long. These are different depending on age.
