How to report a crime?
Prepare a step-by-step guide for a young person, explaining how they can report a crime.

Why report a crime?
Students to work in pairs and agree on as many reasons as possible for reporting a crime. Which do they find the most convincing?

Sentencing
Challenge the students to find real life examples of three different sentences. Compare the results of the research and explain that past history will influence each sentence.

Formal cautions and reprimands
Can the students think of two different scenarios that demonstrate when a formal caution or a reprimand might be appropriate?

Restorative justice
Research a case in which restorative justice was used. Ask two volunteers to role play a session. Can the students comment on how effective it appeared to be? Some students might like to research the restorative justice that took place in South Africa under Nelson Mandela.
