View activity In this activity, the students suggest a suitable sentence for Manish and find out what actual sentence has been passed on him. DiscussionRemind the students of Manish's case (assault on Ryan and carrying an illegal weapon). Do the students think this is a suitable case for restorative justice? If not, why not?
Role playExtension activitiesWorking with a partner, the students could take on the roles of Manish and Ryan. Ask them to imagine that the two characters are meeting face-to-face for the first time since the incident at Avni's Stores. Each character is allowed two minutes to present their version of events and how they felt. Neither character is allowed to be abusive or use offensive language. While one character is speaking, the other is not allowed to interrupt, but must listen attentively. What do they say to each other?
The students could research what kind of sentences Manish might have received if his case had been real. Ask them to present their research as a series of illustrated scenarios for Manish's future.
