View activity In this activity, the students hear the evidence in Manish's case and take a class vote on whether he is guilty or not guilty of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm. Discussion Talk again about the difference between fact and opinion. Ask the students what they remember about the case, identifying which of their statements are facts and which are opinions.
Role play Extension activitiesInvite the students to become members of the jury in Manish's case. Ask them to work in pairs to act out a conversation between two jury members, discussing the evidence in the jury room and identifying whether they have any doubts about Manish's guilt/innocence. Will they dare go against the views of the other jurors?
Challenge the students to write a 'Top ten tips' sheet for jury members, offering advice about the skills they will need, what they can expect from sitting in court, how to work with the other members of the jury etc.
