How the law and justice system started
  • Challenge the students to research facts about the Magna Carta.
  • Can the students find out about an early recorded case of justice? Who can find the earliest case?
Where laws come from
  • Ask the students to find an example of a law that has been made in their lifetime.
Human Rights Act - what is protected?
  • Ask the students to work in pairs and to choose one of the listed Human Rights. Can they write a paragraph explaining why they think this right is important? What would be the consequences on their own life, and the lives of others if it were violated?
  • Activity sheet 2 also supports the learning.
