Activity: On the line
PSHE & Citizenship 1a. 2b. 4a.
View activity
The children are invited to take a class vote on a set of proposed school rules.
Discussion
The facts from Did You Know 4: Rail crime will help the children with their discussion. What do the children think might happen to Sandy, Parv and Spike if they carry on skipping school? Could this make it more likely that they will become offenders?
Role play
How could Sandy, Parv and Spike be persuaded to change their ways? What might happen if they had a conversation with the train driver or one of the passengers? Activity Sheet 3 also supports this concept of empathy.
Extension activities Ask the children to write a short entry from the diary of the following characters: One of the children; their teacher; their parent; the train driver; the policeman; and a passenger. What are the views of each of them on the day's events? |
