Activity: Impact
PSHE & Citizenship 2b.
View activity
In this activity, the children find out that offenders do not always think through the consequences of their actions and how other people in the community might be affected. The children work out what the consequences of four offenses might be.
Discussion Do the children agree that an offence has been committed? Do they think that the penalties are fair? What is the impact on the rest of the community of these offences?
Role play The children could hot seat one of the characters from the activity. Can they work out why the offender acted in the way that they did and how they might react to being punished? Will they still re-offend or have they learnt their lesson?
Extension activity How would their own community be affected by the three incidents described on the screen? What would they like to say to each of the offenders?
